Who we are

meten.app is a collection of sensory memory games - color, sound, brightness, angle - built and operated by Uncert Games, based in Switzerland. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at [email protected].

As a Swiss operator serving users in the EU and worldwide, we follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP).

What data we collect

Guest players (no account needed)

You can play every game without creating an account. When you first visit, we store the following in your browser's localStorage - it never leaves your device unless you choose to create an account:

  • A randomly generated guest ID (UUID) so we can link your scores across sessions
  • A display name you choose yourself
  • Your personal best scores, game history, and daily streak dates

Your guest ID is also stored in our database alongside your game scores, so your results can appear on the leaderboard. We do not store your IP address or any device identifiers.

Registered users (optional account)

If you create an account, we additionally store:

  • Your email address
  • A hashed password (bcrypt) - we never store your password in plain text
  • A Google account identifier, if you sign in with Google
  • Email verification status and timestamps
  • Temporary tokens used for email verification and password resets (these expire)

Game data (all players)

For every game you play, we record the game type, mode, your score, and the individual rounds - including the target value and your guess. This is what powers the leaderboards and daily challenges.

Why we collect it

  • Gameplay and leaderboards - to save your scores, track streaks, and show you how you compare to others.
  • Daily challenges - to know whether you've already completed today's challenge.
  • Multiplayer rooms - to coordinate games between players in real time.
  • Account features - to let registered users log in across devices and maintain a persistent profile.
  • Transactional emails - to send email verification and password reset links (registered users only).

We do not use your data for advertising targeting, profiling, or sale to third parties.

How long we keep it

  • Game sessions and scores - kept indefinitely, as they form the leaderboard history.
  • Account data - kept until you request deletion. You can do so at any time by emailing [email protected].
  • Email verification and password reset tokens - expire automatically after a short period.
  • localStorage data - stays in your browser until you clear it or uninstall the browser.

Third-party services

We use a small number of external services to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy.

Cloudflare

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and served through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare handles DNS, DDoS protection, and CDN delivery. Cloudflare may process request metadata (such as IP addresses) as part of its infrastructure role. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Google OAuth

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive a Google account identifier and your email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password or any other Google account data. See Google's privacy policy.

Cloudflare Turnstile

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on the registration form to prevent automated sign-ups. Turnstile is a privacy-friendly alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs - it does not use tracking cookies or behavioral profiling. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Resend

We use Resend to send transactional emails (account verification, password resets) to registered users. Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose only. See Resend's privacy policy.

Google AdSense

We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. See the Advertising section below for more detail and opt-out options.

Cookies and localStorage

meten.app itself does not set any cookies. We use localStorage (a browser storage mechanism similar to cookies but not sent with network requests) to save your guest ID, display name, and game data locally.

Third-party services we use - specifically Google AdSense - may set their own cookies on your device. These are governed by Google's cookie policy, not ours.

Advertising

We show display ads through Google AdSense to help keep the site free. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show you relevant ads based on your browsing history across sites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through Google Ad Settings, or by visiting aboutads.info. You can also opt out at the browser level using an ad blocker or by disabling third-party cookies in your browser settings.

We do not have access to or control over the cookies placed by Google AdSense.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Swiss nFADP, you have the right to:

  • Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification - ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure - ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Restriction - ask us to limit how we use your data while a dispute is resolved.
  • Objection - object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

meten.app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify registered users by email. Continuing to use meten.app after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
